Island clearance 2020
On a bright, windy day, a working party of the Friends of Haw Park Wood & Wintersett took to the water at Anglers Country Park. Their task for the day was to clear the islands of foliage, ready for the return of the nesting birds. Although the volunteers were issued with life jackets, thankfully these weren’t required. We now look forward to spring and seeing newly hatched wildfowl using these islands.

About the woods
Haw Park Wood is 73 hectares of ancient woodland adjacent to Anglers Country Park near Wintersett and is only a short walk from the car park, but access can be gained from other points. Just 6km (4 miles) south east of Wakefield in the heart of West Yorkshire, Haw Park Wood gives visitors the opportunity to enjoy nature at its best.
